SYORONIN ZENRYU : syoronin ZENRYU is the SYODO Artist (an artist of Japanese brush Painting Art). He calls himself a “syoronin” , a word coined from the combination of “sho” (calligraphy) and “ronin” (a masterless samurai) referring to the fact that Miyamoto Musashi, a Japanese swordsman with great sensitivity, was a “shoronin”. He creates his original art with a sense of expression and balance inspired by the nature of Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, Japan where he used to play around as a child. He does not only calligraphy but also Buddhist and dragon paintings. He has won many awards, including the Art Bank Award at the JCCA (now JDCA) Award in 2002. He has written calligraphy for the Emperor and Empress of Japan and has also written the name of the Chairman of Gucci in Italy. He has been active in a wide range of fields, including film, books, and logo design for companies and products.
