This painting is inspired by Bu Daryah, a famous mythical creature from the emirati folklore. He is a demon (Djin) whose tales of horror and mischief were well known to UAE communities that lived by the sea, especially to seafarers, fishermen and pearl divers. He is famous to steal equipment from the ship which is why in my painting, I portrayed the ship's chains he stole.
