Intricately carved stone windows of havelies and palaces is the classical feature of the ancient architecture of Thar. It is supported on two or more brackets , has two pillars and a pyramidal roof , open for the inmates specially queens to peep out to see passing processions. During ancient days, queens and princesses were not allowed to sit with the rulers in public. During festivals and functions, they used to watch the events from behind those decorative jharokhas, which served the purpose of a canopy.
