MACHIKO ADACHI: Machiko Adachi is a painter, who studied Western painting in college and began her creative career in earnest around the age of 30. After encountering the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (1995), one of the most severe earthquakes in Japan, she realized God dwells in all things and decided to express her awe. She is currently focusing on Japanese tradition and working on contemporary expression as a tribute. In 1999, she won the Tokyo Governor's Prize at the Contemporary Children's Art Exhibition, and in 2008, she became the first Japanese artist to hold a solo exhibition at the ALMA Museum in Bali, Indonesia. She has exhibited her works both in Japan and abroad.
